It’s beginning to look a lot like christmas…

We’re finally starting to get the house Christmassy! We still need to put the main tree up, but we thought it would be nice for Lillee to have hers done. She spent the afternoon helping me sort all her toys out in the cupboard, change her bed sheets and then we got the tree out. She helped wrap the lights around and hung the baubles on herself before telling me where to put the tinsel! It was a lovely afternoon, and every night since it went up she’s asked for the snow-globe to be put on (it plays music) and the lights on her tree keep mysteriously getting turned on…I wonder who that could be?

Owls in the Kitchen…

A few months ago I was reading a magazine and saw something on wall decals. Looking more closely, I thought I could do that and it’d be perfect for my kitchen with some hooks in for my tea towels and oven gloves! So I grabbed a pencil and some acrylic paint and got to work…

It was really easy, just a little time consuming to put together. First, I sketched out the design onto the wall in pencil. I pretty much just copied the one in the magazine but you can do whatever you want! Then I filled in the design with different colours of acrylic paint. You could use leftover emulsion for the walls but I didn’t have any so I just used what was in the house. Then when it was all coloured and completly dry, I went around the edges with a black permenant marker although you could use paint. Finally we drilled holes into the wall, added wall plugs and screwed in the hooks. And its done!

I love how it brightens up my kitchen!

Look what I found…

  • Food in a jar? I’m loving the idea and I keep pinning different ideas… So, what better than chili and cornbread with the cooler weather we’ve been having this week?

Menu Planning…

shopping-list

So, every few months i take it upon myself to plan the weeks meals in advance. However, it always fails. we either dont want what ive planned, we run out of something, or i make too much stuff so we cant eat it all. As we usually shop on a friday/saturday im going to start it from there, and to begin with im only going to plan the evening meal before hopefully bringing in lunches as well in the near future. In theory, meal planning should help us stick to a budget and in order to help me with this im going to buy one big joint of meat, roast it and use it over a few days in different ways. So, im going to try again, and this time i hope you’ll all try it with me so here we go…

Week 1

Saturday… Lamb pitta breads.

Sunday… Roast lamb

Monday… Garlic chicken and salad

Tuesday… Shepard’s pie

Wednesday… Roasted vegetables and sausages

Thursday… Leftovers

Friday… Chicken curry

Now the plan is to make and stick to my shooping list…fingers crossed lets see how it goes next week!
